Well, i have a small audience of about 25 listeners now...

On the tenth episode, have a partner in the show, and am hopefully able to have an interview with a fairly popular artist on newgrounds. Things are starting to look up for me.

Oh, also forgot to mention that i actually broke down and spent $10 a year for a domain name..

Why i haven't made art in a while/ Podcast Ti

Journal Entry: Tue Apr 1, 2008, 7:24 AM
  • Mood: Joy
  • Listening to: MY PODCAST!
  • Reading: Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (42!!)
  • Watching: Itunes for my damn podcast to show up
  • Playing: The Orange Box
  • Eating: Easter candy (JELLY BEANS!)
  • Drinking: Water (gotta keep my voice up!)
Well hell, it's been kinda a hectic week. Lets just start off one at a time, shall we?

#1 I finally broke down and got The Orange Box for my 360. Oh my freaking god.... If you have a 360, and use it, you NEED this deal. Don't have a 360? Get it for PC. Don't have PC? (Macs suck) then you're just SOL. They may have it for PS2, but don't know.

Basically, it's 5 games for only 60 dollars. Yes, you heard me right.

The first 3 Half-life games, which i was SERIOUSLY doubtfull of the "Greatest game of all time" branding. How the hell can this game beat Halo 3 and Gears of War? After almost playing through the first one, i can agree that it is pretty freaking awsome. This game was released in 2004, the Orange box was in 2006, and this game STILL tops Halo and Gears of War graphics-wise. But what use is a pretty package unless it's got some meat.

It terrifies me, gives you some of those "Fuck yeah!" moments, and makes you feel like a badass without going over the top like most other games of the like. You keep your head in the game the whole time, and that's what makes it truely great. The hoverboat was some of the most fun i had. Tense, and feeling like your boat's going to fall apart any second, but ramming a soldier at 30 mph is awsome... The "Shotgun to the face" moments also make me feel as though all is right with the world.

Portal was THE reason i bought this game. Original, witty, Brainbending, and a blast to mess around with. The first time you open a portal under a turrent, then put one on the ceiling, and watch him fall forever, you know something wonderfull has happend. And now the credits are stuck in my head...

Team Fortress is the traditional Multiplayer game, but since i don't have Xbox Live yet, i haven't played it much. There is no bot system, which cheeses me, but it seems like it would be a fairly entertaining game.

Lets put it this way if you have any interest in:
FPS
Scary games
Multiplayer Shooters
Puzzles
Little bit of cake comedy (with Portal)

Now that the one rant is out of the way...

Next up is my podcast!

Check it out at

Each show runs about 30 minutes long, and has music from the NG portal. If you are interested in a variety of music, i would check this one out! I'm the DJ on there, of course....

Anyway, i got class now (and like 3 projects stacked up), so i should stop wasting time on teh interwebs, and get back to works!!!

DJ Time!!

Journal Entry: Wed Mar 19, 2008, 6:11 AM
  • Mood: Big Grin
  • Listening to: My own beats
  • Reading: Where to find samples to spice things up....
  • Watching: the record spin
  • Playing: Guitar Hero with my stepbrother
  • Eating: whatever comes to mind
  • Drinking: Water (you work a sweat making music!)
Well, i've downloaded a program called Virtual DJ (maybe you've seen on download.com). I liked it, so i got the full version now (not much else, besides no time limit, and acess to various mods..)

I never realized how much PRE work there is involved in DJ'ing, as you have to set up cues (places you can automatically skip to) for a lot of songs if you really want to mix well. Setting up and creating samples can become a little strenous, but most of it is trying to find creativity with some one elses works...

I'm interested in either being a dj for an existing station, or maybe even starting my own..

Any help on how to do this would be appreciated, and any tips (if you have them.)

P.S. My Disk Jockey name is DJ Octophile. An octophile is someone who gets sexual stimulation from eyes. Since this is what i find most beautiful in a woman, and it's a fairly unique term, i figured it should be my name. I'm not obsessed with eyeballs, but i find them attractive, and one of the features i value most (physically anyway)

My Poem, and exploring!!!

Journal Entry: Wed Feb 27, 2008, 11:19 AM
  • Mood: Euphoric
  • Listening to: Same old NG music
  • Reading: Not my schoolbooks, that's for sure..
  • Watching: The new cable that was installed
  • Playing: Perfect World
  • Eating: BBQ Potato Chips
  • Drinking: Water (When do i ever not?)
Yay! My poem finally passes my scrutiny, and is available for everyone to see. Check it out if you get the chance. Shirik-rynn left a small essay as a comment on it, and i really hope to speak out to all the internet addicts out there. (Myself included)

Well, i got bored of Perfect World fast. I've played too many RPG's as it is, and i don't really want to devote my life to it (which you basically have to).

As for boredom, i guess i'm not really bored, per se, but the things that thrill don't really seem that interesting anymore. Video games are boring, and the internet is close behind. UNLIKE boredom, i'm not just sitting around doing nothing. I'm basically in the "search for my next personal fad" mode.

So far, that seems like finding random music from random places (and not the random everyone knows about), and Downloading it on Limewire.

As for art, i'll be messing around with transparent renders. Gone are the days of the boring black background. In combination with different color schemes, it's not hard to create unique effects with APO.
*Wants to do commision work for backgrounds/effects*

I get the Internet?

Well, i'm freaking happy now, because i finally have a 5 MB connection to my house, and got cable instead in my room. Let me just say, a DVR will be the death of commercials..

As art goes, i'm taking a small break. Like all artists, i go though creative stages, and dry spells, and this just happens to be a dry spell. I'm sure everyone feels this, where you look at something you spend 15 minutes playing around with, then throw it away...

I am currently working on a poem, and after about 2 hours of working on it (yes two STRAIGHT hours), I have created a finished product. I am going to read it to myself over a few days, to get my feeling of it each day, and see if it needs to be changed. I will read it ten times over, and if i find ONE word out of place, i will read it ten times again untill I believe it's perfect.

Also, i'm unfortudently getting hooked into a game that is seriously looking a hell of a lot like World of Warcraft, but is free, and actually seems to have a better travel system. It's hard to get into, but once you do, nothing beats partying up with a teamate to kick some ass. Hit me up if you feel interested...

If you decide to play it, i would HIGHLY recomend that you check out the forum for tips. I didn't even know how to work on my skills, silly me (You actually have to go to someone to learn them!)
